Peacoat Pulp began as many things do, on a cocktail napkin.

"I just wanted something to do while I waited for the bartender to stop flirting at the other end of the bar," Jake Peacoat fumed, recalling the inception. "Then I just kept using more napkins. After an escort to the street and a few insults, I grabbed some coffee. Peacoat Pulp came to me later, but back then, the first pulp novel, Fog Trails, was already fleshing itself out.”

The novel took on a life of its own after that, and Jake knew that it was no ordinary novel. “I was inspired by so many things, from classic noir to manga, and I felt the story pulling me onward.” Asked how to encapsulate the story, Peacoat says that it’s a “boy meets ghost” story with some detective, surrealism, and conspiracy thrown in.

“All while Fog Trails was being written, I was looking for an outlet for other things. Cartoons, short stories—you name it. So Peacoat Pulp just made sense.”

Today Peacoat Pulp is coming into the light, and offering more original products, books, and even some sass — on request, of course.

“We aims to please,” Jake told us.
